ZMOT and Micro-Moments
The internet changed the way customers found products and made purchase decisions. The customer journey is no longer linear. The Moment of Truth - the point in the journey where the customer reached out to pick a product off the shelf became the Zero Moment of Truth (ZMOT)
ZMOT is the end of a customer journey. It is the moment when the customer has weighed all the information and has made the decision to buy. At this point, there is no way to intercept or influence the customer through advertising or any other mechanism. There is nothing more a marketer can do at this point.
AIs like ChatGPT have been described as a 'Google Killer', however this might take some time to become true. The underlying value of Google is not to search, it is to find.
